One of my best friends is basically Atti's extra parent. Actually, he has a few of those, come to think of it. But my friend J and her husband had a baby girl a week ago, and that is what is going on over here now.
Atti has been very excited about it for the past few weeks. She had a stillbirth and a miscarriage in the last couple of years, so we didn't tell him anything about the baby until the last few weeks, and we started mostly because one of the other mums in our parents group told her son, in front of the other boys that J was going to have a baby.
He has been talking to her belly (and exposing her in public, lovely!) and so earlier in the week I told him that they had taken the baby out of J's tummy and now we could go and see her and the baby (and her partner, he was there too).
He is very excited to see the baby, although the name is close enough to the name the other baby he has just met (another friend had a little girl a few weeks ago - two high risk pregnancies, two preemies, two healthy little girls with similar-ish names). So he has been struggling to get the names right. We have gone to see them twice now, and take some photos (trying to save them several hundred dollars - the hospital does a newborn shoot but I figured I could do a reasonable job). It goes better if we take some things to amuse him once he is over the baby, and he does tend to try to touch her face a little too much.
But I can give you a little baby p_rn to brighten your day. And show off my newborn shoot skills, if only a little bit
